Kennaway House

A beautiful setting for Weddings, Events, Exhibitions, Workshops and Classes

Kennaway House

Built in 1805, the year of Trafalgar, Kennaway House is a handsome Regency mansion standing in its own grounds at the heart of Sidmouth. After a £1 million restoration carried out in 2008-2009, Kennaway House and its gardens offer an historic and beautiful setting for many purposes.

The main Regency floor provides impressive gallery space for art and other exhibitions. With its high, graceful rooms the House is also a romantic wedding venue for your ceremony and/or reception. The Cellar Bar is perfect for parties of all kinds for up to 100 people. We also have meeting rooms to accommodate groups from 10 to 70, suitable for business training and conferences.

Car Parking

Please note that parking at Kennaway House is for Permit Holders only.

A Charitable Organisation

Left to the community in 1905, Kennaway House has been a charitable building for over a century. Now a small independent trust, the house is managed by a board of trustees, all local to the area, and an office of three staff. Kennaway House has positioned itself as a valuable and much-loved resource for East Devon residents, and an exciting destination for local arts, crafts, creative and business initiatives.

As a community hub, we provide space for various business and personal functions, and our extensive calendar is filled with a wide range of learning and wellbeing activities, classes, workshops, clubs and exhibitions. Our location and facilities are unparalleled and continue to grow with the enduring support of the community, from which we have many volunteers. You can become a volunteer today, just go to the Support page and fill out an expression of interest form.

The House relies on income from fundraising events and room hire, supported further by our Friends of Kennaway House, who pay a yearly membership fee. This helps fund vital restoration and maintenance work as well as vibrant entertainment and activities for the community. The Friends receive quarterly newsletters with all our events and classes. You can find out more details and become a friend today under the Support page.
